Cuttack : After ten years of Ravenshaw being recognised as a University, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) team has planned to visit the varsity on December 5 to review the educational and infrastructure facilities starting from toilet, classroom and various other aspects.
Founded in the year 1868, Ravenshaw College was tagged with University rank on November 15, 2006. However, the NAAC team has not visited the University yet. A six member team including Hasnal Beri, Akhilesh Singh, Koti Arora, Sanjukta Bhattacharya and S Romali during their visit to the University will review the infrastructure and other amenities in its premises.
During the earlier visit in 2006, the team had upgraded the status from college to University but since then the university has not yet been successful in receiving any accreditation from NAAC. Following which the varisty is barred from getting the UGC grant from the centre. With around 8,500 students, Ravesnhaw is running only with the grant received from the state.
Meanwhile, ahead of the team’s arrival to the university, various beautification steps are being taken by the authority in the pathways and the campus, drainage system, cycle stand, parking, lawn, garden, library. The main building has also been whitewashed and painted.
The students have been asked to maintain law and situation during the NAAC team visit by authorities.
