Bhanjanagar: Mysterious killing of sheep have surfaced again in the state, but this time at Tamanada village under Jagannath Prasad block in Ganjam district where at least 12 sheep were found dead last night.
Reportedly, the sheep carcasses were found in the cattle shed of one, Neera Nayak, a resident of the same village.
Neera a livestock farmer, while inspecting the shed in the morning, found the dead sheep with deep nail scars on their body pointing towards a possible predator attack. Besides, he also found some pug marks of an unknown animal near the sheep carcasses.
After the news spread like wildfire in the village the locals called up forest officials and sought their help to tackle the situation. The people are in a state of panic in the area following the incident, said a source.
It may be mentioned here that, a number of sheep were found dead under mysterious circumstances at Badapathara and Kupati village which was assumed as a predator attack.
Notably, seven domestic animals had fall prey to the mysterious animals’ killing-spree in Kunchudu village under Buguda block on August, last year.
