Sambalpur: A case of murder was today registered in connection with the mysterious death of Sambalpuri album actress Simran Singh.
On the basis of the complaint filed by the father of the actress, Burla police registered the murder case.
Earlier, the police had registered a case of unnatural death after the 20-year-old actress was found dead under the Mahanadi Bridge near Goira Matha in Sambalpur district on January 3.
In his complaint, Simran’s father had alleged that his daughter was being tortured by her husband Dhrubraj Suna and in-laws. A case was also lodged in this connection in Jharsuguda Police Station, he stated in the complaint.
Simran had married Dhrubraj in April last year against the wish of her family members. Simran’s family levelled murder allegations on her husband. Based on the allegations, police had arrested Dhrubaraj Suna after registering a case under POCSO Act.
A day after Simran’s body was found with severe injury marks, her voice message went viral on social media in which she was heard crying.
In her last message, Simran had said that she was going through mental stress due to her estranged relationship and concluded saying that she was going away from everyone.
