Mumbai put on high alert by Coast Guard

Mumbai: The Indian Coast Guard put Mumbai on high alert and sent a fax to the Mumbai police regarding possible infiltration by Islamic State terrorists.

The Coast Guard fax mentioned that three suspected Islamic State terrorists may try to get inside the city by sea. Sources from Mumbai police said that all precautions to prevent any untoward incident have been taken while the police is trying to get details of the suspects. Also, low budget lodges and hotels are being inspected by police where usually identity proof of guests is not checked.

The November 2008 attack on Mumbai was also carried out when ten Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants entered the city by sea. Around 166 people were killed in the terrorist attack.
