Cuttack: A state-of-the-art Molecular Genomic Diagnosis & Research Laboratory was inaugurated in the Biochemistry Department of SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack.
The Health & Family Welfare Secretary Pramod Kumar Meherda inaugurated the lab on Thursday.
The molecular genomic diagnosis and research laboratory is stated to be the first of its kind facility in Eastern India.
The facility will be used for the detection of malaria, TB, a methicillin-resistant bacterial infection in ICU, DNA testing, and drug sensitivity.
HPV, the main cause of cervical cancer can also be detected at the pre-cancerous stage with the help of the facility.
