Minor boy thrashed over theft suspicion in Soro

Balasore: In a fresh incident of ‘moral police’, a minor boy was thrashed over theft suspicion by an irate mob at Singakhunta village in Soro in Balasore district today.

According to sources, the victim, hailing from Bhadrak, was reportedly eke out a living on alms. The locals caught hold of the minor boy over suspicion of being a thief and tied him to a nearby pole. He was beaten mercilessly as he failed to provide satisfactory answers to the mob’s questions, said a source.

On being alerted, Soro police reached the spot and rescued the minor boy. Meanwhile, the police carried out further investigation into the incident the source added.
