Minor Bangladeshi torture case: Chief of ‘Asha Kiran’ now behind the bars


Bhubaneswar: In a major turn of events in the Bangladeshi minor boy torture case, the Secretary of the shelter home ‘Asha Kiran’ Hochimin Sastri and the cook were arrested by police. The statement of the victim will be recorded at a court in Bhubaneswar.

Earlier, on Tuesday evening Asha Kiran chief Hochimin Sastri and cook of the shelter home, located in Jatni, were arrested by the police for allegedly torturing a minor Bangladeshi boy after a case was registered again him by the District Child Protection Officer.

The minor was unable to walk when he was rescued by the NGO SOCH in Puri. He had levelled serious allegations against the Khordha based NGO “Asha Kiran” stating that they used to torture him and sexually assault some of his fellow inmates.

After the allegation around 45 inmates of the shelter home were shiftedto Bhubaneswar based ‘Jibanjyoti Ashram’ for further investigation into the matter. After 72 hours of investigation, it was found by the police department that the inmates of the shelter home were tortured both physically and mentally.

Further, it was also known that the cook of the shelter had sexually assaulted a minor girl. Later the victim was pregnant. Knowing the incident, Hochimin had provided medicines to the minor for aborting the child and later also suppressed the case.

Basing on all such allegations, Jatni police had arrested Hochimin and further issued court challan against him.

Howver, the court has rejected his bail plea and as such Hochimin has been forwarded to jail.
