McDonald’s India App Leaked Customer Data

New Delhi: McDonald’s India app McDelivery leaked personal information of its customers for an unspecified duration of time on Saturday sources said.

This included “name, email address, phone number, home address, accurate home co-ordinates, and social profile links” for more than 2.2 million of its users.

After an independent blog claimed that the company was leaking personal data of over 2.2 million users in India, McDonald’s said its website and mobile app do not store financial data of customers.

“We would like to inform our users that our website and app does not store any sensitive financial data of the users like credit card details, wallets passwords or bank account information,” said a McDonald’s India spokesperson.

It also asked its users of its McDelivery service in India to update the app on their smartphones as a precaution.
