Bhubaneswar: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) is going to conduct the annual HSC Exams 2017 between February 28 and March 10, Susant Kumar Das President of Board of Secondary Education (BSE) said during a board examination committee meeting on Wednesday.
“It has been decided that Matric Examination will commence from February 28 and will continue till March 10. We have obtained permission from the State Election Commission and State Government so that the exams could be conducted in the due date without any postponement,” Das said.
Earlier the board’s president had showed his apprehensions saying that due to ensuing panchayat elections matriculation exams could face adjournment and this led to an urgent meeting earlier today under the chairmanship of School and Mass Education Minister Debi Mishra.
“Panchayat Elections have nothing to do with the exams though few days of adjournment will not affect the publication of results. We follow Supreme Court guidelines and as per that we can publish the results within two months of the conduct of exams so there is no problem with that either. Results will be published in due time as per the schedule,” Das said.
“More than six lakh students are appearing exams. On-line form fill up will be done in early November. All requisite steps will be taken to ensure smooth and fair conduct of exams just like every year,” he added.
Generally the board conducts Matric exams in month of February owing to the scorching summer heat in late march but there was some confusion regarding the commencement of exams next year as the panchayat elections coincides with the exam schedule.
