Married woman gang-raped in Sundergarh


Sundergarh: In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old married woman was waylaid while she was returning home from her relative’s house and allegedly gang-raped by two men.

Although the incident took place June 3 (Sunday), it came to light after a complaint was lodged by the family members of the victim in this regard at the Town police station on Tuesday.

According to sources, the victim lives in RRIT area along with her husband and two-year-old daughter. Her husband is a fruit seller and remains away from home most of the time.

On Sunday, the woman had gone to her relative’s house in the locality to charge her cellphone. She was returning home at around 12 pm when the two accused, identified as Parsu Munda (40) and Loko (19) waylaid her and forcibly took her to a dilapidated building. Although the woman pleaded with them, the accused duo took turns to rape her.

The accused duo sexually assaulted the woman for nearly one hour following which fell unconscious. Later, the accused duo fled the scene on an apprehension of being caught.

Meanwhile, some locals raised suspicion on the behaviour of the accused duo and reached the dilapidated building. They were shocked to find the woman in an unconscious state.

The woman regained sense after she was brought to her home and narrated her ordeal to her family following which a complaint was lodged.
