Puri: “The PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi scheme of the Centre does not have anything for marginal, sharecroppers and landless farmers,” said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday.
Addressing a public meeting during his visit to Kanas in Puri, the CM said, “It is very sad the Central government scheme does not have anything for the landless, marginal farmers and sharecroppers.
“For the interest of the farmers, I had urged Prime Minister to include landless, marginal farmers and sharecroppers under the KISAN scheme,” Patnaik said.
He said the state government’s flagship KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) scheme has become very popular among farmers. “KALIA scheme is benefiting the marginal farmers, sharecroppers and landless farmers,” he added.
The CM further said apart from giving power to people to live with dignity, the KALIA scheme has shown the way to the entire country.
“While more than 16 lakh farmers have been benefitted from the scheme, additional 10 lakh farmers will receive the financial assistance under the scheme tomorrow (February 21),” the CM added.
On the occasion, the CM inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth more than Rs 271 crores in Brahmagiri. He also inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects worth Rs 251.45 crore in Satyabadi.
