Maoists torch vehicles protesting road construction work in Malkangiri


Malkangiri: In yet another incident of Maoist violence, the red rebels torched several vehicles and construction equipments opposing road construction work at Andrahal near Bonda ghati in Malkangiri district on Sunday night.

According to reports, the extremists torched the contractor’s camp and set four tractors, a truck, one vibratory compactor and a backhoe loader ablaze.

Reportedly, around 50 armed ultras threatened the people at the camp to stop the road construction work and then they resorted to torch all the vehicles and machines engaged in the road construction.

Earlier, the Maoists had killed a man by slitting his throat on suspicion of being a police informer at Bidiguda village in Ralegada panchayat of Chitrakonda cut-off area in the district on December 9.
