Maoists observe 24-hour bandh in four Odisha districts, limited impact
Phulbani: The 24-hour bandh called by Kandhamal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division of Maoists in four districts of Odisha had a limited impact.
Only vehicular movement was partially affected in different parts of the districts on Thursday as the extremists blocked roads cutting trees. However, shops and offices remained opened during the strike.
Similarly, Maoist posters condemning the killing of ultras were also found at different places in the districts but many business establishments remained open.
Security has been beefed up with deployment of adequate CRPF personnel and police patrolling has been intensified to avoid any untoward incident.
The bandh is being observed in Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Boudh and Nayagarh districts to protest against the death of five rebels in the recent police encounters in Sudukumpa forest near Golanki village in the district.
