Maoists gun down village man suspecting him to be police informer

Nabarangpur: Maoists gunned down a local from Bonas village under Raighar block in Nabarangpur district on suspicion of being a police informer.

The deceased has been identified as Tunu Gandan.

According to sources, the rebels called Tunu from his house to the village outskirts and shot him dead after accusing him to be a police informer.

On being informed police reached the spot and recovered the body.

Cops also seized a letter left there by the outlawed organisation in which they have stated that Tunu has been killed as Nabarangpur SP had appointed him as an informer.

They also mentioned that Tunu used to provide information about the movement of the rebels in the Odisha-Chhattisgarh bordering areas. The Maoist said the victim was “awarded” capital punishment for being a police informer, sources in the police said.
