Maoist camp busted in Sambalpur forest, huge cache of explosives seized

Sambalpur: The personnel of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Wednesday busted a Maoist camp in the Pravasani Reserve forest area, near Bar Bhaluchan under Jamankira police limits in Sambalpur district.

According to reports, the security forces spotted the rebel camp while carrying out a search operation in the forest range. The jawans seized huge cache of explosives and other items from the camp as the rebels had fled the spot beforehand.

The items seized from the spot includes at least 49 gelatin sticks, 45 commercial detonators, medicines, and first-aid items, copper wire and electric wire of around 5 metre each.

“The quantity of explosive items seized during the operation suggests that the Naxals might have been planning an attack on the security forces,” said a CRPF personnel.

The search operation will be underway to avoid any untoward incidents in the near future and the movements of the rebels would be tracked at all times, the CRPF personnel added.
