Maoist ammunition recovered in Bolangir
Bolangir: The police and District Voluntary Force on Friday discovered huge cache of arms and ammunition of the Maoists from a forest in Turekela in Balangir district.
SP (Balangir) K Siva Subramani said on a tip off an operation was launched in Maoist dominated area. The ammunition and other Maoist materials were found at an old camp deserted by the Maoists. The ammunition was recovered.
The recovered items include two boxes stashed with explosives, an empty explosive container, 62 gilatine sticks used in explosives, five kg of urea, electric wire, two Maoist books, 18 syringes, 10 banners, two shawls, battery slips, salt and pants and trousers.
The SP said the operation was conducted in the morning hour. “A massive combing operation was launched before and after the operation,” added the SP.
Notably, Turekela, Patnagarh and Khaprakhol block in the district are known for Maoist menace.
