Baripada: The Odisha police arrested a man last night for marrying a woman posing as an IAS officer.
The fake IAS officer, Rajat Panda of Tihidi area in Bhadrak district, was nabbed from Damodarpur in Udala of Mayurbhanj district.
Rajat impersonate himself as IAS officer Lingaraj Panda and married the woman- an ASHA worker about 15 days back.
The accused has created a fake Facebook account and convinced the girl for marriage by posing as Malkangiri sub collector Lingaraj Panda, reports said.
He was staying at his in-laws house during which complaints against Panda were lodged at the Khunta police station for allegedly duping people of money with promises of providing jobs.
Police initiated an investigation into the matter and arrested Panda yesterday night.
During investigation, it is revealed that Rajat was arrested for his alleged links with chit fund firm Seashore Group of Companies in 2014 and lodged at Jharpara jail for a period of 1.5 years.
There are several cases of fraud pending against him at different police stations, police added.
