Man jumps into Nandankanan tiger enclosure, rescued
Bhubaneswar: A man attempted suicide by jumping into the Royal Bengal Tiger enclosure at the Nandankanan Zoological Park here on Friday.
According to reports, Prakash Pani, a resident of Balikuda, was rescued after jumping into the enclosure 31 (A) and (B). Pani, who works as an electrician, was later handed over to the Nandankanan police.
Sources said Pani scaled the 20-ft fence of the enclosure and was spotted by staffs of the zoo at around 4 pm. The alert personnel immediately swung into action and initiated measures to drive back the two tigers, Nandan and Bahubali, into their cages. “The staffs pelted stones and after five to 10 minutes, they were successful in driving the tigers back into the cages and rescued Pani,” said a visitor.
Though the exact reason behind Pani trying to resort to such an extreme step was still unknown, he was being interrogated by cops
