Man injured in crocodile attack at bathing ghat in Kendrapara

Kendrapara: A middle-aged man was injured when an estuarine crocodile pounced upon him at a bathing ghat at Belapal village of Rajnagar block in Odisha’s Kendrapara district this morning, triggering fresh bout of man-crocodile conflict.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Kailash Chandra Sethi had gone to the Brahmani river for a bath in the morning. The reptile caught hold of his right leg and tried to drag Sethi into deep river.

He, however, managed to escape from the clutches of the reptile and raised am alarm, following which some villagers taking bath in the river rushed to the spot to his rescue.

Sethi is undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital here with multiple wounds. His condition is stated to be stable.
