Bhubaneswar: A total of 29 road projects estimated at Rs 350.02 crore were approved for Malkangiri and Koraput districts in the first governing body meeting of the newly constituted Odisha State Rural Connectivity Project Agency (OSRCPA) held here recently.
Chief Secretary AP Padhi presiding over the meeting on Tuesday directed the concerned department to expedite the processes of tender, award of work and complete the projects before the scheduled time.
Padhi also directed to ensure quality in construction through regular check and monitoring.
It was decided that the new technologies like cement treated sub-base, WNM, cold SDBC and nanotechnology would be adopted for cost saving and speedy construction. A 3-tire quality monitoring system would be put in place. The roads would be developed to 5.5-metre width.
Of the sanctioned roads, 13 would be constructed in Boipariguda, Koraput, Lamatapur, Nrayanpatana and Semiliguda blocks of Koraput district and 16 roads to be built in Kalimela, Khairaput, Korukunda, Kudumuluguma, Malkangiri, Mathili and Podia blocks of Malkangiri The Centre and State Government would share funds at 60:40.
While the Chief Secretary heads the OSRPCA, Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan, ACS Home Asit Kumar Tripathy, KBK Chief Administrator SP Thakur, Finance Principal Secretary Tuhin Kanta Padey, Works Secretary Nalini Kanta Pradhan, Chief Engineer (DPI and Roads) Om Prakash Patel, and Works Additional Secretary A Mallik are its members. The main objective of agency is to provide seamless road connectivity in the Maoist-infested areas.
