Major train mishap averted in Odisha


Rayagada: A major train mishap was averted on Monday night due to the alertness of a gang man and a train driver and his co-driver in Rayagada district.

Sources said a railway gang man spotted a crack on the railway track near Muniguda station in the district before the Visakhapatnam-Korba Express was scheduled to pass through the railway line.

The gang man showed red light to the train which was at a slow pace ahead of approaching the Muniguda station. The train was halted and repair work of the railway track was undertaken after other railway staff reached the spot.

For two and half hours, the train was stopped near the station before it left for its destination.
