Mahila Congress activists scuffle with police, detained
Bhubaneswar: Several activists of Mahila Congress were detained after a scuffle with police near Sishu Bhawan Square here on Thursday.
The Mahila Congress workers marched towards Naveen Niwas today protesting Cheif Minister Naveen Patnaik’s silence over the statements of minister Pradeep Maharathy on the acquittal of the prime accused siblings in the sensational Pipli gang rape and murder case.
However, they were intercepted by the cops near Sishu Bhawan Square. Following a scuffle, the cops detained the activists of Congress’ women wing.
Similarly, on Tuesday, the members of BJP Mahila Morcha had a clash with the police while marching towards the Naveen Niwas.
The saffron party’s women activists have been demanding the resignation of Minister Pradeep Maharathy for his insensitive remarks on the acquittal of the Pipli gang rape and murder verdict.
