Love brings Maoist couple to mainstream in Odisha
Angul: A Maoist couple today surrendered before police in Odisha as the organisation opposed their love affair.
The love birds surrendered before Angul Superintendent of Police (SP) Mitrabhanu Mahapatra to join mainstream and lead a normal life.
The surrendered have been identified as Chhotu Ganjhu alias Dayananda (28) of Ranchi and Jali Dehury alias Amrita (18) of Angul.
“Dayananda fell in love with Amrita after she joined the Maoist organization last year. However, their organization opposed the love affair between them, following which they surrendered before police today,” said the SP.
Dayananda joined the Maoists in 2000 and underwent weapons training for a month in Saranda forest of Jharkhand. He was carrying a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh on his head and was involved in major Maoist attacks in Odisha and Jharkhand.
