Loss pegged at Rs 2765 cr, 60L affected in cyclone Titli, flood: SRC
Bhubaneswar: Odisha has incurred a loss of Rs 2765 crore and more than 60 lakh people have been affected under the impact of very severe cyclone Titli and subsequent flood, informed Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi here on Thursday.
According to reports, 60.11 lakh people in 8125 villages under 128 blocks of 17 districts (Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Khurda, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Puri, Angul and Rayagada) were affected in the twin calamities.
The cyclone and subsequent flood also damaged 2.6L hectare crops, destroyed 56,930 houses, and killed 34,951 domestic animals, the SRC further said.
SRC Sethi also informed that the further additional estimation of damage is underway and a final report in this regard will be submitted to the Centre today.
