Looters’ gang busted, five held in Bhubaneswar


Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today busted a looters’ gang and arrested five youths with seizure of a cache of loot items from their possession in the capital city of Odisha.

The arrested have been identified as Tiki Pradhan, Babu Pradhan, Kalu Behera, Biswanath Senapati and a minor.

According to Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo, the accused were involved in the Highway loot incident which took place near Baramunda bus stand in the city last year. Acting upon a complaint filed in the case at the Khandagiri Police Station, cops nabbed the accused trio from Tamando area. Later, two others were caught whom the looters were selling the loot items, he added.

The arrested persons have also been involved in at least five snatching cases pending against them at the Khandagiri Police Station, informed the DCP.

Police have seized a Bajaj Pulsar bike bearing Registration No. OD 02 AN 4284, four gold necklaces, two diamond earrings, 10 costly mobile phones and a laptop from the possession of the gang and they have been forwarded to court.
