Looters cut open ATM, flee away with 16 lakh in Cuttack
Bhubaneswar: In a shocking broad day light robbery incident, cash worth of Rs 16 lakh has been looted from an ATM near Gandarpur area of Cuttack on Monday.
According to information, some unidentified miscreants pulled out the ATM cash machine and withdrew about Rs16 lakh worth of cash from it.
Meanwhile, police have started investigations into the incident.
In another incident, a bank official has been robbed off about Rs 8 lakh cash outside the Badbil SBI branch in Keonjhar. Sources said, two unidentified persons came on a motorcycle and snatched away the cash from the bank employee while he was just making his way out of the ATM after withdrawing cash from account.
Such incidents have become common in the capital and other cities of state in recent weeks. Notably, the Bapuji Nagar UCO bank loot incident last month, Rs 11 lakh cash loot from BOI branch at Anandpur on October 10, the high profile Rs 40 lakh robbery from an SBI ATM at Bargarh last month among others bear testimony to this fact.
