Loco pilot killed after 12 wagons, engine of goods train derail in Angul


Angul: At least 12 wagons and engine of a goods-laden train today derailed near Jarasingha station in Angul district after it departed from Jindal plant.

The loco pilot of the train has been reportedly killed in mishap.

Reportedly, the ash-laden train which departed from Jindal plant at around 12 am today travelled 5 kilometers in a wrong route and moved towards an under-construction railway track. The operator tried to stop the speeding train but in vain the brake system failed in the meantime following which 12 wagons and the engine derailed near Jarasingha station killing the train driver on the spot.

After getting information, railway officials and Angul police have rushed to spot and investigation into the incident is underway.
