At least 22 dead after boat capsizes in Uttar Pradesh


Lucknow: In a tragic incident, at least 22 people have died and many feared drowned in the Yamuna river as a boat capsized in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district today.

According to sources, the boat was carrying at least 60 people and was headed for Haryana when the incident occurred.

After the news spread, rescue teams, including a team of NDRF have reached the mishap site to carry out the rescue operation.

The number of deaths may increase.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an exgratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of the kin of the deceased.

However, the cause behind the incident was not known immediately.
