Islamabad: Pakistan has denied second consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav after granting first consular access on September 2.
Pakistan Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal on Thursday announced that there would be no second consular access to the former Naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav, held by Islamabad for alleged espionage.
Pakistan had granted consular access to former Indian Navy officer as per the direction of International Court of Justice on September 2. India’s Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad Gaurav Ahluwalia had met Jadhav in a sub-jail for more than an hour. The meeting, done in the presence of Pakistani officials, was a recorded one.
After the meeting, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that Jadhav “appeared to be under extreme pressure to parrot a false narrative to bolster Pakistan’s untenable claims”.
