Kolkata STF arrests explosive dealer Sukanta Sahu from Balasore


Balasore: The Kolkata Special Task Force (STF) on Monday arrested explosive dealer Sukanta Sahu from Basta area here in connection with the seizure of 1000 kg of explosive in Kolkata on March 9.

The West Bengal police will take the arrested Sukanta Sahu in transit remand, sources in the police said.

Earlier, two persons, Indrajit Bhui (25) and Padmolochon Dey (31) had been arrested by the Kolkata police in this connection.

Notably, Kolkata police based on reliable inputs had intercepted a Tata – 407 on suspicion near the Tala Bridge in the Chitpur Police Station area of north Kolkata. During the search, cops recovered about 1000 kgs of explosive substances (Potassium Nitrate) contained in 27 gunny bags.

An investigation revealed that the vehicle was en route to North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal from Odisha. Following which, the West Bengal STF alerted the matter to the Odisha police and launched a probe into the matter.
