Bhubaneswar: KIIT Pro-Chancellor Padma Shree Professor Subrata Kumar Acharya has been nominated as President of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar.
This was known from a gazette notification published by Government of India.
Acharya was associated with New Delhi AIIMS,and rendered service for last 40 years. After retiring from AIIMS, he joined as Pro-Chancellor of KIIT Deemed to be University in November 2016. He is also in-charge of overall management of Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS).
Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT & KISS, expressed happiness over the nomination of Acharya as President of AIIMS-BBS and congratulated him. He also thanked Government of India for nominating Acharya to the post.
Subrat Acharya is a renowned Gastroenterology and Hepatology specialist of India. The Government of India honoured him with Padma Shree in 2014 for his remarkable contribution in the field of medicine. He has many contributions in policy making and people oriented health schemes of Government of India including ‘Ayushman Bharat’ scheme.
Reacting to the development, Acharya said, he would remain as Pro-Chancellor of KIIT varsity and overall in-charge of KIMS, along with the new assignment.
