Keonjhar ragging: Six engineering girls found guilty


Keonjhar: The authorities of Government College of Engineering in Keonjhar found six girl students guilty in connection with the ragging of some junior students and suspended them from the college hostel.

College principal Trilochan Sahu on Monday suspended from hostel the accused girls, all fourth year engineering students of the college, for a period of one month.

According to sources, the accused girls had allegedly ragged a group of third-year girl inmates of Maa Tarini Hall of Residency of the college located at Jamunalia after they complained to the hostel superintendent about power cut for a long time on August 8 night. The fourth-year girl students had abused the third year girls and ragged them. They also barred them from having dinner.

Following the ragging, one of the girls, Tapaswini Sahu, had fallen unconscious. She was rushed to the district headquarters hospital at around 11 pm. The girl students had submitted a written complaint to the college Principal in this regard.
