Kashmiri terrorist spotted in Punjab, security on high alert


Chandigarh: Security has been tightened in Bathinda and Ferozepur districts of Punjab on Thursday after  Kashmiri terrorist Zakir Musa reportedly spotted in the region.

Intelligence reports said Kashmiri terrorist Zakir Musa could be hiding in the area.

It said Musa could be disguised as a Sikh and wearing a turban. He is the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind chief and is linked to the global terror group.

Security agencies have put up posters carrying photographs of Musa.

Police sources said posters of the terrorist was earlier  put up in the frontier districts of Gurdaspur and Amritsar in November.

Before joining the militant ranks, Musa was a student in an educational institution in Mohali in  Punjab. The district is close to Chandigarh.

The terrorist had succeeded Burhan Wani as the chief of the terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen following Wani’s death. Wani  was killed in an encounter with security forces in Kashmir in July 2016.
