Kangana Ranaut hospitalised after sustaining injury on the sets of “Manikarnika the Queen of Jhansi”
Mumbai: Bollywood’s queen Kangana Ranaut was severely injured while shooting for a sword-fight scene for her upcoming film Manikarnika: Rani of Jhansi, a biopic on Rani Laxmibai, sources said.
The actor was shooting a sequence with co-star Nihar Pandya. In the scene, she was expected to duck when Nihar swung the sword at her, but because the timing was wrong, the sword hit her forehead resulting in 15 stitches.
The shooting happened in Hyderabad and the actor was taken to Apollo hospital and admitted at the ICCU, as per sources.
The film’s producer Kamal Jain said that the action scene had been rehearsed several times and Kangana had insisted on doing the scene herself instead of employing a body double. As the sword made a deep cut between her eyebrows, Kangana put up a brave front despite the pain and bleeding. Her co-star Nihar was apologetic and felt terrible, but the ‘Queen’ actress tried to pacify him.
As per doctors the injury may leave a scar and Kangana may have to opt for a cosmetic surgery after wrapping the film. Kangana will reportedly be discharged next week.
