Junior Women National Hockey: 5 teams including Gangpur-Odisha register victory

Kollam (Kerala): Action in the 9th Hockey India Junior Women National Hockey Championship 2019 (A Division) continued here at the Hockey Stadium today, on its sixth day.

Hockey Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, Hockey Haryana, Sports Authority of India and Hockey Gangpur-Odisha secured victories in their respective Pool matches of the competition.

In Pool A, Hockey Jharkhand beat The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd. by an emphatic margin of 23-0. Goals for Hockey Jharkhand were scored by their Captain Reshma Soreng (18′, 23′, 26′, 28′, 55′), Albela Toppo (2′, 19′, 24′, 30′), Priya Dungdung (5′, 15′, 25′, 35′), Sushma Kumari (40′, 41′, 42′, 50′), Ropni Kumari (42′, 53′, 57′), Beauty Dungdung (29′, 45′) and Prini Kandir (10′).

While in the other Pool A match, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy defeated Hockey Coorg 23-0 where the goals for them were scored by Neeraj Rana (2′, 9′, 22′, 24′, 27′, 32′, 33′, 50′, 57′), Yogita Bora (10′, 16′, 51′), Kanchan Nidhi Kerketta (18′, 23′, 55′), Sneha Singh (39′, 40′, 44′), Sadhna Sengar (41′, 43′, 46′), Hritika Singh (20′) and Priyanka Parihar (49′).

In Pool B, Hockey Haryana beat Hockey Uttarakhand 5-0 where the goals for their team were scored by Captain Amandeep Kaur (14′, 23′, 24′), Joyti (27′) and Manju Chorsiya (34′).

In the other Pool B match, Sports Authority of India defeated Chhattisgarh Hockey by a score-line of 4-2. Goals for Sports Authority of India were scored by Bhavani Maugulla (32′), Akanksha Shukla (53′), Tanya (57′) and Deepti Ekka (60′), while goals for Chhattisgarh Hockey were scored by Harshita Sahu (38′) and Captain Khushboo Bara (58′).

In Pool C, it was Hockey Gangpur-Odisha defeated Hockey Andhra Pradesh by a score-line of 7-3. Goals for Hockey Gangpur-Odisha were by Rojita Kujur (7′, 36′), Jyoti Chhatri (29′, 51′), Sunita Xaxa (14′), Janhabi Pradhan (22′) and Rahil Tirkey (43′), while Vara Lakshmi Uppidi (18′), Captain Mary Lotla (59′) and Jhansi Bobbili (60′) scored for Hockey Andhra Pradesh.

In the other Pool C match, Hockey Mizoram drew their match against Hockey Maharashtra by a margin of 2-2. Goals for Hockey Maharashtra were scored by their Captain Akshata Dhekale (20′, 55′), while Hockey Mizoram’s two goals were scored by Lalneihpuii (45′) and Lalrindiki (48′).
