New Delhi: The special cell of Delhi police filed a charge sheet running into 1200 pages relating to the sedition case against three JNU students on Monday.
They had allegedly stirred the nation three years ago by raising anti-India slogans.
The JNU students named in the police report are former JNU Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar, Anirban Bhattacharya and Syed Umar Khalid.
Seven other people are also charge sheeted in the sedition case. Media reports said others who have been named in the in the charge sheet are Kashmiri residents Aquib Hussain, Mujeeb Hussain, Muneeb Hussain, Umar Gul, Rayees Rasool, Basharat Ali and Khalid Bashir Bhat.
Police sources said they have filed the charge sheet under Sections 124a,143,147,149,120b and 323.
Kanhaiya was accused of intentionally allowing the ‘event’ to happen. It was alleged that he was also aware that Umar Khalid and Anirban had called the outsiders to the campus for attending the event.
The charge sheet said no permission was granted by the JNU administration and it was not informed about the same.
