JE panic: Class IV student writes letter to PM, pleads for help

Malkangiri : The heart rending tale of dozens of child deaths in Malkangiri district due to the dreaded Japanese Encephalitis (JE) has gone one step further with a class four student writing a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi pleading for his intervention to save innocent kids lives.

Sources said, Umesh Madhi, a class four kid of Korukonda village under Shikhapalli GP in Malkangiri district has written a letter to the PM citing dire problems and fear faced by him and hundreds of other kids in the area due to the outbreak of the fatal JE which has claimed more than 80 lives so far.

In his letter, Umesh has thanked each and everyone from collector to minister who have visited his and adjacent villages and shared their condolences and assistance.

Urging the PM to act soon to mitigate the disaster, Umesh has requested “Please come to our village and save me and other poor kids like me. Please try to improve the worsening conditions of our village. Or else there will be no kids left in our area,”

“I am not able to go anywhere. My parents do not leave me fearing that I may get infected. I feel very sorry,” Umesh repented while recounting terror they live under for some weeks now.

“Yours neglected son”, Umesh concluded his letter.
