Cuttack: Many an effort by the government has not been successful to lessen the grip of jaundice in the city. Around 5 persons were tested positive for the disease on Sunday. The rising trend with the number of persons being afflicted with the disease has become a worry for the Cuttack Municipal Corporation.
As per sources, since January 2017, as many as 178 positive cases have been found in the city. On Sunday, one person from Ward Number-8 and four persons from Ward Number-9 were reported to have been afflicted with the disease.
During the month of January, around 39 positive cases were reported. Similarly during the month of February, it was 82 cases. Subsequently during the month of March, in first five days, as many as 57 cases were reported to be positive.
The various wards being affected in the disease includes, Tulasipur, Bangali Sahi, Bauri Sahi, Matha Sahi, Stewart Patna, Sri Vihar Colony, Narayan Sahu lane in Chaudhuri Bazaarand Kadamarsul.
