Jail employees go on strike


Bhubaneswar: Jail staff members across Odisha today resorted to hunger strike today to get attention of the state government to their demands of pay parity. Around 1800 employees of over 90 jails of Odisha demanded hike in salaries for which they sat on strike, informed members of All Odisha Jail Employees Association.

The jail staff, particularly those serving in the designations of warder, head warder and chief warder have demanded their pay to be at par with the corresponding grade staff in police department, namely constable, havildar and havildar major.
