It is our duty to protect custom, dignity of Srimandir: Amicus curiae
Puri: The Supreme Court-appointed amicus curiae, Gopal Subramanium, on Friday said he would do whatever is necessary to protect the customs and dignity of Sri Jagannath temple in Puri.
Subramanium held a discussion with Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) about the 12 reform proposals given by the apex court for smooth management in the 12th-century shrine.
After holding the discussion with Shankaracharya, Subramanium said he would consider the suggestions given by the seer on the reforms of Jagannath temple.
Earlier in the day, Subramanium visited Jagannath temple and paid obeisance to Lord Jagannath. Later, he held a meeting with the SJTA.
After discussing with chief temple administrator Pradipta Mohapatra and other officials, Subramanium visited Govardhan Peeth to meet Puri Shankaracharya.
On the basis of suggestions of the SJTA, Shankaracharya, managing committee members, the amicus curiae will submit the final report to the top court.
