Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday approved eight investment proposals worth Rs 1197.41 crore which are expected to create employment for 5,162 persons.
The proposals were approved in the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi in the secretariat. Principal Secretary Industry Sanjeev Chopra outlined the project proposals for consideration.
While giving nod to the project proposals, Padhi directed concerned departments to provide proactive facilitation to the approved units for their early grounding.
The proposals approved in the meeting were from various sectors like downstream in steel and aluminium, food processing, apparel manufacturing, hospitality, iron & steel, plastic pipes and fittings. In total these projects will create employment opportunities for 5,162 persons.
The major approved projects included proposal of Aditya Birla Fashion Retail Ltd. for setting up an apparel manufacturing unit at Tikri in Rayagada district with investment of Rs.114 crore. The mega textiles project is first of its kind in Rayagada district with the potential of creating employment opportunities for 2750 people.
More number of women will have employment in this unit. It may be pertinent here to mention that the unit at Rayagada will be the second unit of Aditya Birla Fashion in Odisha. The Company’s first unit at Bhubaneswar was inaugurated during Make in Odisha Conclave 2018.
The other projects approved included the proposal of Gemini Edibles and Fats India (makers of FREEDOM brand of oil) to set up a refined vegetable oil manufacturing unit of 396 KTPA capacity at Tata Steel Industrial Park in the district of Ganjam with an investment of Rs. 300 cr and employment potential of 525.
Similarly, proposal of GMLR Techno Industries Pvt Ltd to set up a manufacturing unit for production PVC water storage tanks at Industrial Estate Chhatabar in Khurda with an investment of Rs. 61.50 cr and employment opportunity for 350 people; and, proposal of KURLON company to set up a PU foam manufacturing unit at Khordha with a total investment of Rs. 65 crore.
This unit will be the third unit of the company in Bhubaneswar. Other two units of KURLON are now opretaing Chandaka Industrial estate with 450 employees. The second unit at Anlapatna Industrial estate with employment potential of 500 persons is nearing its completion and is expected to start production within few months.
The proposals of Swosti Group’s new resort project named Gopalpur Palm Resort at Udayapur in Ganjam district also received the nod of Single Window Authority. The resort proposes to have 98 rooms, restaurants, spa & gym facilities, swimming pool, indoor games and a kids club. The project shall employ around 220 people.
The proposal of Astral Polytechnik Ltd. to set up a new plastic pipes & fittings manufacturing unit of capacity 35,000 MT with a total investment of Rs.109.81 cr. at Ramdaspur in Cuttack was approved in the meeting. Two expansion projects in the sponge iron sector in Sundargarh district were also approved by the SLSWCA.
These two were Agrasen Sponge Private Limited for expansion of its 200(4×50) TPD Sponge Iron Plant to 0.072 MTPA capacity Integrated Steel Plant at Kansbahal in Sundargarh district with investment of Rs. 198.57 cr. and employment opportunity for 461 persons ; and, Shree Hari Sponge Private Limited for expansion of its Sponge Iron Plant (2 x 100TPD) to 0.135 MTPA capacity Integrated Steel Plant at Kendrikela in Sundargarh district with investment of Rs. 284 cr. and employment potential for 256 persons. One proposal of Indian Oil Corporation Limited envisaging investment of Rs. 1970.52 cr was recommended to HLCA for consideration.
