Ink attack on Pappu post derogatory remark


Bhubaneswar: A youth Congress mob today took to ink attack on comedian Tatwaprakash Satapathy, popularly known as Pappu Pom Pom post his derogatory remarks on Lord Jagannath during the Puri Beach festival on Monday evening. Pappu had already apologised in public on Tuesday for his statement.

Today afternoon when Pappu was returning from a shoot in his car on Jharapada fly over in the city, a group of youth Congress members stopped his vehicle and even as the artiste apologised numerous times and held his ears seeking forgiveness for his dishonouring remarks against Lord Jagannath, he was smeared with black ink by the mob.

Pappu had earlier remarked that those who take the Lord’s name will be born again as dogs since leaves of Tulsi plant on which dogs urinate are offered to Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Subhadra.

The Jagannath Sena lodged a complaint with the Sea Beach police against Pappu and demonstrated against him by burning his posters and effigies on Tuesday for hurting the religious sentiments of Jagannath devotees.

This is not the first time the popular stand up comedian and actor has found himself amid controversy. He was jailed earlier following allegations of sexually exploiting a minor in casting couch case in which he was later granted conditional bail.
