Indian student shot at US, police release CCTV footage to identify suspected shooter


Kansas: The Kansas City Police Department on Saturday released a CCTV footage to identify the accused who shot the 25-year-old Indian student in a restaurant at Kanans city in US on Friday. In a tweet, the department has asked anyone with information about the accused to contact on 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.

According to sources, Sharath Koppu was a student in Kansas City and was working at the restaurant where he was shot. He had moved to the US for perusing master’s degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City earlier this year.

Sharath hails from Telangana’s Warangal district. After completing his graduation, he was a software engineer at a company in Hyderabad. He had moved to US for a master degree after leaving his job.

On Saturday, Sharath’s family was informed about his death, who then contacted Telangana’s NRI minister KT Rama Rao, seeking help in getting the body back. Indian consulate officials in Chicago have also promised all help in getting the body back to India.
