India vs England 4th Test: England 92 at lunch break


Southampton: England scored 92 runs in the second innings at lunch on the third day of the fourth Test match here on Saturday. The hosts erased the 27 runs first innings deficit and were 65 runs ahead at the lunch break.

England’s skipper Joe Root was still not out. Mohammed Shami dismissed opener Keaton Jennings (36) just before lunch. Indian pacers attacked twice early but opener Keaton Jennings along with skipper Joe Root managed to earn a crucial 59-run partnership for the third wicket taking England out of trouble.

The duo also took the team’s second innings lead to 65 runs. Resuming on the score of 6 without loss at the end of day 2, England Alastair Cook (12) went back in the seventh over of the morning. Skipper Joe Root promoted Moeen Ali (9) to number position three.

With England bowling out India at 273, the stage is set for an exciting match where skipper Virat Kohli will once again look up to Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma in order to restrict the English players from adding runs on the board. Meanwhile, the hosts are targeting to get 300-400 runs on board, in order to post a high score for Indians to chase.

Earlier on Day 3, Cheteshwar Pujara’s hard-fought century gave the visitors a narrow lead on the second day of the fourth Test.
