Hague: India on Monday countered in ICJ by saying that Pakistan had violated Vienna convention and denied consular access on multiple occasions.
It vociferously argued how Pakistan violated the Vienna convention and sought the release of Kulbhushan Jadhav who has been convicted of ‘espionage’ by a ‘military court’ in Pakistan.
The former Solicitor General of India Harish Salve highlighted two broad issues evoking the relevant clauses of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations in the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
He said that in detaining, trying and convicting Jadhav, Pakistan has ‘breached’ the provisions of the Vienna convention.
It had also denied granting of consular access to Jadhav despite repeated requests by the Indian government.
