India-England series: Hosts win third test by 8 wickets


Mohali : India took a 2-0 lead in the five match test series against England after winning the third match here. The hosts chased down a 103 target set by England while losing two wickets after limiting them to 236 in the second innings.

After bowling out England for 283 in the first innings India amassed a total of 417 and took a good lead of 134 thanks to magnificent contribution from lower order especially half centuries from Ashwin, Jadeja and Jayant Yadav.

Capitalizing on the lead India led by some marvelous bowling attack especially from Ashwin who clinched all 3 important wickets that led to the crumble of batting order coupled with some other good performance from Shami, Jadeja and Yadav limited the three lions to 236 in the second innings.

Chasing a comfortable 103 runs India grabbed the win in only 20.2 overs with eight wickets remaining.

Earlier the hosts registered a thumping win by a massive 246 runs during the second test match at Vishakhapatnam. Next up, it travels to Mumbai’s Wankhede for the fourth test where the hosts would look to done and dust the series
