India beat Pakistan 4-0 in Champions Trophy opener


New Delhi: India opened their campaign on a rousing note beating arch-rivals Pakistan 4-0 in the final edition of the Champions Trophy Hockey Tournament in Breda, Netherlands, on Saturday.

“The Indian Men’s Team show supreme composure to defeat Pakistan by a resounding 4-0 margin in their first game of the Rabobank Men’s Hockey Champion Trophy 2018 on 23rd June 2018, featuring immense fortitude in attack and defense,” the Hockey India tweeted.

India opened their account with Ramandeep Singh scoring at the 26th minute and again at 60th minute. The other scorers were Dilpreet Singh (54th) and Mandeep Singh (57th).

While the Indian strikers were on target, the defenders also produced a superlative show to keeping Pakistan forward line at bay.

India, eyeing its maiden Champions Trophy title, will face reigning Olympic champions Argentina in their next round-robin league match on Sunday.
