IIT Bhubaneswar student alleges being sexually harassed by professor
Bhubaneswar: A woman Phd student of IIT, Bhubaneswar has alleged a professor for mentally and sexually harassing her and mentally torturing her husband who is also a Phd student in the same premier institute.
The incident came to fore when the woman’s lawyer sent a legal notice to PK Sarangi, secretary of skill development and technical education department.
The victim has sought immediate action against the professor and securing her and her husband’s Phd registration.
However, the premier institute has refuted the allegations brought by the Phd scholar.
The woman has also written to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking their intervention.
The woman in her complaint had alleged that she was a victim of sexual harassment since 2012 and had approached the IIT’s authorities but unsatisfied with the report of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), instituted to look into her complaint, she has demanded fresh probe into the allegations.
