IIIT School offers course for employment of BTech students

Bhubaneswar: In order to enhance employability of engineering students, the State Government has started a special programme named ‘Finishing School’ at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bhubaneswar.

The programme will have an industry-oriented training and skilling duration of 150 hours in two months.

There would be around seven assessments including two final ones. It has been targeted to provide training to 300 students in three batches, the first one to begin in July, this year.

This has been discussed in the IIT Board of Governors Meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary AP Padhi here on Tuesday.

IIIT Director Prof Gopal Krishna Nayak along with Prof Ajit Kumar Das outlined the issues and presented the updates for discussion.

The Chief Secretary directed them to make the course industry-oriented through direct interface with the industries.

Padhi too asked them to connect students to the Government’s loan subvention schemes so that no eligible student is deprived of pursuing higher technical education because of his/her inability to afford for it.
