Bhubaneswar: It seems Odisha batsmen are fast learners from their mistakes, as they upped their standard and didn’t commit the mistake of first innings. After being followed on, Odisha responded strongly against Rajasthan on the third day of the Ranji Trophy match at the Dhruv Pandove stadium in Patiala. Odisha ended the day at 244 losing only two wickets and taking a lead of 93 runs.
For the third wicket partnership, opener Ranjit Singh and middle order batsman Subhransu Senapati have added 169 runs with both the batsmen waiting to complete much deserved centuries on day four of the match. While Ranjit is more watchful and is batting on 89 of 213 balls hitting 11 fours, Subhransu is 10 runs away from century and has been scoring at 51.14 strike rate hitting 15 boundaries.
Though Odisha had lost two of its second innings wickets before lunch today just after their first innings was bundled out for a paltry 172 runs in first session in reply to Rajasthan’s 323 runs, both Ranjit and Subhransu played for two sessions without causing any damage for the team and frustrating the opposition. The fallen batsmen are Sandeep Pattnaik who made a quick fire 40 and captain Govind Poddar who could score only 16 and they fell to RD Chahar and MK Lomror respectively.
If these two continue tomorrow and others fire from all cylinders, there is a huge chance of Odisha going for a win on the fourth day of the match.
